An auto-rickshaw driver from Adalaj was booked for rash and negligent driving after he allegedly rammed a government Innova car near Krishnanagar crossroads late on Wednesday, causing damage of around ₹35,000 to the police vehicle.

The incident occurred around 10.15 pm on September 17, when Constable Surajsinh Thakor attached to the State Reserve Police Group-2 in Krishnanagar, was returning to his unit after dropping off a senior officer at home.

As he approached the busy Krishnanagar intersection in the government Innova, a rickshaw allegedly driven recklessly and speeding struck the front right side of the vehicle. The impact broke the bumper, headlight and front bonnet, though no injuries were reported.

Constable Surajsinh told the police that he confronted the rickshaw driver, who identified himself as Ajay Bharatbhai Bhramaniya, a resident of Adalaj, Gandhinagar.

Based on the constable’s complaint, the police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against Bhramaniya, and the “G” Division traffic police has initiated an investigation.

An officer at the station said the rickshaw driver will be questioned and appropriate action taken after further inquiry.
