Aspiring doctor ends her life by jumping off from 14th floor in Ahmedabad

A 23-year-old woman named Preksha Akhani ended her life by jumping from the terrace of a 14th-floor building in Shastrinagar, Ahmedabad. Reports suggest she was depressed after scoring less marks in Class 12, which crushed her dream of becoming a doctor.
The incident took place in the Sardar Patel Housing Scheme at Shastrinagar. As per details registered with Ghatlodia police, the body of Preksha Akhani was found on the ground floor of Block A of the housing complex. A set of keys was recovered from her trouser pocket, which helped police confirm her identity.
Preksha, a native of Viramgam, was living with her brother in a paying guest accommodation near Prabhat Chowk, Kanti Park Society in Ghatlodia. For reasons not yet clear, she went to the terrace of the 14th floor and jumped, ending her life.
Investigating officer PSI K D Patel of Ghatlodia police revealed that Preksha’s father runs a medical store in Viramgam. Both she and her brother lived in the PG accommodation while pursuing studies and jobs.
Preksha was employed at a laboratory near Damru Circle in Ghatlodia. She had long aspired to become a doctor, but after securing lower-than-expected marks in Class 12, she reportedly went into depression.
Struggling with her career ambitions and battling constant mental distress, Preksha took the extreme step. Police have launched further inquiry into the matter.
