Around 100 litres of milk stolen from Amul parlour in New Vastral in Ahmedabad

In a series of early-morning thefts reported from New Vastral area of Ahmedabad, unidentified persons allegedly stole milk crates kept outside dairy outlets, with the latest incident involving the theft of nearly 100 litres of milk from an Amul parlour.
According to local shopkeepers, the theft occurred around 5.20 am on Friday outside an Amul parlour opposite United School in New Vastral. The milk packets, stacked in plastic crates outside the shop for morning distribution, were allegedly taken away by an unidentified individual before the outlet opened for business.
Traders in the vicinity said similar incidents have been reported in recent weeks, particularly in the early hours when delivery vans drop off milk consignments and shop staff are yet to arrive.
“Milk crates are kept outside for a short period before the shop opens. The person appears to be targeting that window,” said a dairy owner in the area, adding that the losses have caused concern among small vendors.
CCTV footage from cameras installed near the shop has surfaced on social media, purportedly showing a suspect lifting crates and fleeing the spot. The video has since gone viral, prompting calls from local residents and traders for increased police patrolling during pre-dawn hours.
Police officials said they are verifying the footage and have initiated preliminary inquiries. A formal complaint is expected to be lodged, following which further action will be taken.
With multiple dairies situated around United School and adjoining residential societies, traders have urged authorities to step up surveillance to prevent further losses.
