Armed gang robs man, steals two-wheelers and ₹49,000 in Ahmedabad

In a violent late-night robbery incident on July 7, a group of seven men armed with knives and sticks allegedly attacked three individuals on Balolnagar Bridge in Ahmedabad, robbing them of two two-wheelers and ₹49,000 in cash. The accused also damaged a Swift car during the assault, according to an FIR registered at Sabarmati police station.
According to the complaint filed by 30-year-old Mukesh Bharwad, a resident of Balolnagar Society near Akhbarnagar Circle, the incident occurred between 11.45 pm and midnight. Mukesh was on his way to deliver wages to labourers at Adani Shantigram, carrying ₹49,000 in his Activa’s deck. As he reached the middle of Balolnagar Bridge, a group of seven men aged around 20 to 30 years stopped his vehicle and began assaulting him.
One of them grabbed Bharwad from behind, while another struck him with a rod. Others surrounded him with knives and sticks, calling out to each other with names like Rohit, Rahul, Pritam, Cutting, Deva, Ramakant and Vishal. Fearing for his life, Bharwad fled, leaving behind his Activa and the cash.
The group then reportedly tried to stop a passing white SUV, assaulting it with sticks and attempting to shatter its windows. The SUV driver managed to speed away. Shortly after, two young men, Tanmay Parihar and Krishna Koshti, who were taking a selfie with their Bullet motorcycle on the bridge, were also chased by the gang. They fled on foot, leaving their vehicle behind.
Moments later, Ravi Patel, another victim, was driving his Swift car over the bridge when the gang stopped his vehicle, hitting it with sticks and causing damage worth ₹15,000. Fearing for his safety, Ravi fled the scene and later informed the complainant.
The robbers allegedly fled with both Bharwad’s Activa (valued at ₹40,000) and Tanmay’s Bullet (valued at ₹60,000), along with the cash, taking the total value of the loot to ₹1.49 lakh. The stolen vehicles were later found abandoned and damaged in Saraswati Nagar.
Police were informed immediately and began investigation. Based on preliminary inquiries and witness statements, the following individuals have been identified as accused: Rahul aka Amarnath Kaur, Rohit aka Babu Kori, Deva alias Vitthal Rathod, Arjun alias Cutting Shrivastava, Ramakant Rajput and Vishal Rathod all with prior criminal records registered at Sabarmati, Sola, Dhalgarwad and Adalaj police stations under charges including assault, robbery, rioting and violations of the Gujarat Police Act.
