AMNS (ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India), who was fined for encroachment on government land, had built a 100-meter wall at the Mora T junction in Hazira, which was causing traffic congestion.
The wall was demolished with the help of bulldozers on the orders of the Choryasi mamlatdar.
During peak office hours, it used to cause a massive traffic jam at the T junction.
Earlier this week, AM/NS was fined ₹18 crore for encroaching upon approximately 82,000 square meters of government land in Hazira, Surat. Complaints had been received regarding the unauthorized use and encroachment on land conditionally allocated for ‘Shri Sarkar’ purposes over several years.
Following an investigation by the Mamlatdar of Chorasi, evidence of encroachment was found, and cases were registered. The company was penalized for encroaching on about eight hectares (82,000 square meters) of land.
