Another attempt in Gujarat to derail train near Botad
Updated: Sep 25th, 2024
After incidents in Kim and Olpad, an attempt was made to derail a train in Gujarat’s Botad on the night of September 24.
The Bhavnagar-Okha passenger train stopped near Kundali village in Botad after hitting a piece of iron, causing its engine to stall.
The train was halted for about three hours before it chugged away with another engine, and authorities arrived to investigate.
Botad SP Kishore Baloliya said, “A piece of iron, approximately 4-feet-long, was placed on the railway track on the train’s route. As a result, the train’s engine stalled. The railway police and railway officials, along with the Ranpur police, were informed.”
Currently, teams from the Botad police and Local Crime Branch (LCB) have initiated an investigation into how this incident occurred and who orchestrated it. Dog squads and drone cameras have been employed to find the culprits.
This is the month’s third such incident in Gujarat where attempts have been made to derail trains, raising serious safety concerns for railway operations.
