The district collector of Anand DS Gadhvi was suspended on Aug 9 while in office due to allegations of misconduct and immorality against him.

IAS DS Gadhvi sacked after obscene video shot in office goes viral

2008 batch civil officer who was posted as Anand district collector, DS Gadhvi, has been sacked under disciplinary actions taken against him by the state government. The issue sparked after a video of Gadhvi from Jan this year went viral. The video showed the collector committing obscene acts with a woman who entered the former’s office premises.

It could not be determined whether the woman is an employee of the collector's office or not. However, it is also difficult to confirm the authenticity of the said video.

Govt appointed a committee of three senior women IAS officers to investigate this case, which found Gadhvi guilty.

The matter was then taken up with the chief minister’s office (CMO). Gadhvi has been replaced, and the additional charge has been handed over to the District Development Officer (DDO), Milind Bapna.

Other than this, there have been several instances of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers being suspended or transferred from government jobs in the state in the last 10 years due to corruption or malpractice. Investigations against seven officers have been conducted, and significant action has also been taken against them.

Some suspended, some under CBI investigation, and some sacked

Rajkot police commissioner Manoj Agarwal was replaced after an investigation was carried out against him in a case. The then collector of Surendranagar, K Rajesh, was replaced, and later a CBI probe was launched against him. Capt Ajay Chauhan of the civil aviation department of Gujarat was also fired from his job.

CBI raided Gujarat cadre IAS K Rajesh while the latter was still in office, similar to the suspension of the district collector of Anand.

Gujarat IAS officers sacked and probed into

In 2015, Sanjay Gupta, who was working as the MD of a Metrorail company, was arrested after committing a scam of ₹113 cr in the Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) project.

In 2018, suspended IAS Pradeep Sharma was caught in a bribery case. Promoted IAS VJ Rajput was investigated after he was suspended.

Similarly, IAS Gaurav Dahiya was suspended after allegations were made against him of marrying a girl from Delhi despite already being married.

Yet another collector sacked on immoral grounds after SK Langa’s scam

This suspension comes into light, right after the Mulasana land scam case involving IAS SK Langa. Langa was allegedly involved in a land scam during his tenure as a collector. A government-formed committee found him guilty, with a complaint lodged in Gandhinagar Sector 7. On July 11, the local crime branch of Gandhinagar arrested Langa from Mt Abu after a search operation conducted over received intel.
