Congress star campaigner for Lok Sabha Elections Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed a gathering in Valsad today, where she took a jibe at PM Modi’s controversial ‘wealth distribution’ comment attributed to the Congress.

Comparing PM Modi to an “uncle at a marriage”, she said, “There is always an uncle at the marriage, you know… who holds a darbar in the corner to share the knowledge and bored people gather around him.”

“One day, in such a darbar, the uncle says, ‘Savdhan (be alert), if the Congress comes to power, they would bring an X-ray machine to scan your houses for the gold and jewellery, to take it away’.”

“You wouldn’t take it seriously, right?” she asked the crowd.

“You would ask the uncle to think of something new…”

Gandhi added that she was surprised that a PM of the country, with all his power and dignity of his post was saying such a thing.

“When I saw him saying that (wealth distribution remark), I thought it was a morphed video, someone had edited it. But when I saw it on multiple channels, it was confirmed that it was him!” she said.

Posing a question to the crowd again, she asked how a government, a political party, can come to power and scan your houses with an X-ray machine to take away your gold.

“In 70 years of independence and 55 years of Congress rule, when did a government take away your gold?” she asked.

“He thinks, since he is the PM, he can say anything and the public will believe it,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi continued with the allegations Congress has been making about the ruling party, that it would change the Constitution if it came to power.

“By weakening the Constitution, they are weakening the republic,” she said.

Talking about the GOP manifesto, the general secretary of the party once again asked the crowd.

“Have you ever thought why does he (PM Modi) do that?”.

“What is their problem with our Nyay Patra (Congress manifesto)? Is it because we are talking about the women, farmers, the unemployed, and the ₹16 lakh (crore) that the PM has given away to his friends?”

“Has he lost confidence? Is he afraid?” she asked.

Moreover, the star campaigner also called the PM ‘Mehngai Man’, pointing to the inflation in the country.
