Amul land purchase row heats up in Ratankuva-Nadiad, directors verify prices on-site

Controversy has erupted over allegations that Amul Dairy purchased land in Virpur’s Ratankuva for a veterinary centre and staff quarters at prices significantly higher than the market rate, raising corruption concerns.
Following this, Amul directors Kesarisinh Solanki, Rajendrasinh Parmar, Sanjay Patel, Natwarsinh Mahida, and C K Vaghela visited Virpur on Friday, where they met local farmers, and inquired about the actual land prices.
Solanki revealed that farmers informed him the land in the area could typically be purchased at ₹8-10 lakh per acre, while Amul allegedly paid much higher rates.
Allegations have been made by some Amul directors and opposition members that Amul Dairy paid prices much higher than the market rate for the land purchased in Virpur taluka, leading to large-scale corruption.
Similar allegations of large-scale kickbacks in Amul’s land purchases in Nadiad have also surfaced. The directors’ on-site inquiry is expected to increase friction within Amul’s internal politics as the issue gains momentum.
