Amreli Local Crime Branch (LCB) has seized 2,910 grams of ambergris -- commonly known as whale vomit -- valued at around ₹2.91 crore in the international market, arresting two suspects in the process.

According to police, the operation was carried out near Center Point in Amreli city after a tip-off about two suspicious men loitering in the area. Upon questioning, the duo was identified as Kishan Bhupat Baraiya and Dinesh Sada Dolasiya, both residents of Juna Rajpara, Talaja. A search led to the recovery of the ambergris stash, shocking officers with its high value.

Following their arrest, the accused were produced in court, which granted police custody until Monday for further investigation. The ambergris and the suspects have since been handed over to the Forest Department.

Forest Officer Jyotiben Khakhs is leading the inquiry to determine the source of the contraband, its intended recipient, and the reason for the accused being in Amreli. The investigation is ongoing.
