AMC to build ₹96 crore Urban House in Navrangpura
In a bid to centralise Urban Development, City Planning, and Estate Department, a proposal has been submitted to the Standing Committee of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to construct a 10-storey Urban House in the Navrangpura ward at an estimated cost of ₹96 crore.
The Urban House is expected to be completed in two and a half years.
Currently, for tasks such as development maps, land and plot-related opinions, part plans, zoning certificates, plot opinions, and betterment charges, citizens have to go to different offices of the AMC. With the construction of Urban House, all these works will be done under one roof.
The proposed Urban House will be constructed on the road from NCC Circle to Nagari Hospital in the Navrangpura ward, with a built-up area of 26,360 sq m. It will have two basements, a ground floor, ten upper floors, and a 1,055-square-meter garden with various facilities.
Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani stated that the planning aligns with a Platinum Rating as per the Indian Green Building Council standards. It will include features such as solar power generation, water conservation, green building materials, and wastewater reuse.
The building will house the Building Plan Scrutiny Pool Department, the Town Planning Officer’s office, a document record room, a training center, GIS cell, server room, cafeteria, terrace garden, and canteen, among other facilities. The two basements will accommodate parking for 140 four-wheelers and 1,184 two-wheelers. A state-of-the-art WiFi-enabled conference room will also be part of the Urban House.
The revenue generated by the Estate and two other departments was ₹1,170 crore in 2022–23, ₹2,017 crore in 2023–24, and ₹2,765 crore in 2024–25.
