The tax department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has surpassed its revenue record from the previous financial year, with total tax collections reaching ₹2,256 crore so far this year.

By March 23 last year, the civic body had recorded tax income of ₹2,254 crore. Officials said collections this year have already exceeded that figure, with further growth expected before the financial year ends on March 31.

The corporation’s interest waiver scheme for long-pending tax arrears has contributed significantly to the increase, generating ₹361.42 crore in revenue so far. Officials indicated that an additional ₹100 crore could be collected under the scheme in the remaining days of the financial year.

Property tax remains the primary source of revenue for the civic body. In 2024–25, the corporation collected ₹1,745.61 crore from property tax, while collections for the current year have reached ₹1,730.63 crore as of March 23.

Revenue from profession tax stood at ₹270.15 crore last year, compared with ₹268.80 crore this year so far. Meanwhile, vehicle tax collections have seen an increase, rising from ₹216.45 crore last year to ₹231.18 crore this year, marking a growth of over six per cent.

Including transfer fee charges, the total tax income of the civic body has reached ₹2,256.01 crore, officials added.
