AMC standing committee rolls out ₹12,262.83 cr budget for 2024-25

Days after the introduction of Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) draft budget, the Standing Committee of AMC presented a revised budget of ₹12,262.83 cr after adding amendments of ₹1,461.83 cr on Feb 6.

An addition of ₹578.33 cr was made to revenue expenses and ₹883.50 for development projects in the earlier draft budget of ₹10,801 presented by M Thennarasan on Jan 31.

The AMC Standing Committee chairperson, Devang Dani, said that considering the religious beliefs of citizens, ₹45 has been allotted to construct a gau shala.

The tax rates for citizens have not increased and are kept unchanged.

A laboratory for food testing will be established in the city at a cost of ₹20 cr.

To facilitate the citizens with wifi accessibility, ₹5 cr has been allotted to install wifi connectivity in 179 locations, including properties, libraries, gardens, and the Sabarmati Riverfront, under the Safe and Secure Amdavad (SASA) project.

The third eye system has been strengthened for better IT surveillance through CCTV cameras with an allocation of ₹15 cr.

₹50 cr has been allotted to build two urban house towers at Mithakhali, where permissions will be given for building use under the town planning scheme.

₹20 cr is allotted to build isolated cancer units at municipal hospitals.

Recovery of ₹520 cr tax

The Standing Committee said that ₹520 cr will be recovered from payable property tax and ₹250 cr from commercial development. The estimated premium income will be ₹226.95 cr.

Municipal party plots and hall bookings will fetch ₹100 cr. The income of AMC will be increased after the corporation leasehold rent income of ₹100 cr, the same amount as the impact fee, ₹184.88 cr grant fee.

Urban forest to be constructed in five wards

Chandlodiya, Jodhpur, Sardarnagar, Vastral, and Vatva will get urban forests at a cost of ₹2 cr.

The AMC has also proposed construction of Lotus Park near SG Highway which has been allocated ₹20 cr.
