AMC staff attacked during cattle control operation in Gota, worker injured

A municipal staff member sustained head injuries after being attacked during a routine cattle control operation conducted by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in Gota Rabari Colony on Friday morning. The incident took place during a drive to impound unlicensed cattle.
As per the FIR registered at Sola High Court Police Station, the team from AMC’s Cattle Nuisance Control Department, led by Assistant Municipal Commissioner Shrey Kumar Soni, was on patrol in the North-West Zone around 8.30 am on May 2. The team included civic officials, police staff, bouncers, private labourers, and vehicle drivers.
As the team reached Gota Rabari Colony, they found approximately ten cows being kept without a valid licence, allegedly owned by one Navghanbhai Haribhai Desai. When officials instructed Desai regarding it, he became aggressive and began to argue with the team. During the confrontation, a man identified as Jigar Desai, who was part of the crowd that had gathered, allegedly hurled a stone that struck Mahendrabhai Bhati (AMC staff) on the left side of his forehead.
Bhati was immediately taken to Sola Civil Hospital by AMC officials, and later, a complaint was lodged at the police station against both Navghanbhai Haribhai Desai and Jigar Desai as accused for obstructing government duty and assault. Sola police have registered a case and have started an investigation.
