AMC seizes 452 liters of suspicious ghee worth of ₹2.85 from Kathwada

The Amadvad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) Food department has raided a dairy factory in Kathwada area and seized 452 liters of suspicious ghee worth ₹2.85 lakh. Later, the factory was sealed after expired licenses found in the investigation.
A day earlier, the AMC’s food department conducted a search in CTM, Vatva, and Dudheshwar areas and seized at least 4,850 kg of suspected cow ghee worth ₹31.81 lakh.
On the second consecutive day of searches, the department conducted an inspection in a factory called Ovati Shri Matangi Dairy and Food Products at Kathwada’s Industrial Park where civic body found that the factory owner Chintan Sureshbhai Shah was using an expired license with the address mentioned of another place on the license.
However, the investigation revealed that the factory's licence did not explicitly permit the production of pure ghee. Despite this, ghee manufacturing was allegedly being carried out at the facility.
In addition, the municipal investigation found that ghee was being produced under unhygienic conditions and without proper cleanliness standards. During the inspection, officials also discovered butter and mishri being sold under the label of "Cow's Pure Ghee."
Following these findings, the civic body sealed the factory and sent samples for laboratory testing.
