AMC seals fast-food outlets, pan parlours and others over littering violations, imposes heavy fine

The Solid Waste Department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has intensified its enforcement drive against public littering and the use, sale and storage of banned plastic, taking action across several zones of the city, officials said.
In the West Zone, AMC teams inspected 234 stores and issued notices to 144 units found violating civic norms. Penalties amounting to ₹2.75 lakh were recovered.
Six establishments in the Motera area including McDonald’s, KFC, Fashion Factory, Adrian Tony, Wake Fit, and Biba Fashion, were sealed for littering on public roads.
In the Thaltej ward of the North-West Zone, two pan parlours in Bodakdev — Krishna Pan Parlour and Prakash Pan Parlour — were sealed for similar violations, and penalties were imposed. The department said that fines totalling ₹2,75,950 were collected in this zone.
Authorities in the East Zone took action against 265 units for public littering, sealing four establishments and recovering fines worth ₹82,000.
Officials also reported the seizure of 2.5 kg of prohibited plastic material from establishments involved in the use, sale or storage of banned plastic. An additional fine of ₹22,500 was imposed on those found violating the ban.
Separately, in the Sabarmati ward, a construction site of an Economically Weaker Section (EWS) housing project was sealed for littering on a public road. A penalty of ₹2 lakh was imposed in this case.
