AMC seals 12 shops opposite Karnavati Club for failing to provide parking, causing traffic congestion

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has cracked the whip on eateries along S G Highway, which had contributed to traffic congestion during peak hours in the city.

S G Highway sees heavy vehicular movement during peak hours in the morning and evening. Amid the road expansion work on the highway, the service roads and crossroads on the highway experience significant traffic congestion. 

The issue is especially severe near the Karnavati Club majorly because several food and beverage shops are located on the plot opposite the club. 

Customers park their vehicles haphazardly, causing daily traffic jams, and the situation worsens during peak hours. On Friday, the AMC sealed around 12 shops at this junction.

Shop owners ignored AMC’s orders

Notably, these shops had been sealed earlier as well due to the traffic congestion issue. However, over time, the shop owners disregarded AMC’s orders. In the notice issued by AMC, shop owners were clearly instructed that customer parking should be arranged within the open plot, a security guard should be appointed, and no vehicles should be allowed to park in front of the shops. Despite these instructions, there was non-compliance, leading to the sealing.

According to reports, commercial activities in the units opposite the Karnavati Club caused public inconvenience due to visitors parking on public roads. As a result, AMC had sealed 12 shops.

List of 12 shops sealed by AMC

AMC sealed shops including Badshah Bombay Vadapav, Gayatri Tea Stall, Karnavati Snacks, Rajwadi Tea Stall, Mayur Ghughra, Shri Vinayak Paratha House, and Gajanand Poha House, among others.
