AMC painters attacked under Ambedkar Bridge, equipment damaged

Two men allegedly assaulted a group of painters working under the Ambedkar Bridge in Paldi on Thursday evening, causing injuries and damaging equipment worth ₹20,000, according to a First Information Report (FIR) registered at Paldi police station.
The incident occurred around 4 pm on July 10 when Rahul Solanki (20), a subcontracted painter working for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), along with his father and three other craftsmen, was engaged in a painting assignment beneath the Ambedkar Bridge. The accused — identified as Jaideep Solanki, a resident of Vasna, and Sanjaybhai Maganbhai Chudasama (35), a resident of Paldi reportedly confronted the workers and launched an unprovoked attack.
As per the complaint, one of the men allegedly enraged over a parked vehicle that had been inadvertently sprayed with paint, began hurling verbal abuses. When Rahul attempted to explain that he had previously requested the car’s removal, the man reportedly grabbed his collar and slapped his father who intervened. The altercation escalated as both accused began assaulting Rahul with a wooden stick and punches to the face.
They not only assaulted the father-son duo, but also destroyed the paint spray machine and tools incurring a loss of around ₹20,000.
Police arrived at the scene following a call to the control room. One of the accused, Sanjay Chudasama, was apprehended on site and taken to Paldi police station. During preliminary questioning, police identified the second accused as Jaideep Solanki, who had fled the scene. A legal complaint has been lodged against both under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to assault, abuse, and damage to property.
Further inquiry is underway to locate and arrest the second accused.
