AMC launches QR code feedback for 3,500 street food vendors to ensure hygiene, quality
After launching a QR code for panipuri vendors in Ahmedabad, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced a QR code based feedback system across 3,500 food stalls and street vendors in the city to enhance food safety and hygiene standards.
This will allow customers to share their opinion and rating regarding food quality and cleanliness which will be monitored by AMC officials on a weekly basis.
Customers can simply scan the QR code and rate the food vendors on a scale from 1 to 5, where 5 signifies excellent quality and hygiene and 1 indicates unsatisfactory experience. Users can submit their complaints and opinions regarding taste, cleanliness and services.
Vendors consistently getting ratings lower than 3 will receive a formal warning and access to customer reviews will help to identify areas of improvement.
The civic body has warned food vendors that failing to display QR code will face penalties from the health department. It also includes sealing of the premises. The transparency driven approach is expected to encourage better practice among food operators, ultimately benefiting public health.
Encouraged by early response, the AMC plans to soon extend the QR code system to all major hotels and restaurants in the city, making it a city wide mechanism for accountability in the food sector.
