The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on the owner of Bajrang Tea Stall in Gota ward for damaging a newly constructed road by digging an illegal pit for a drainage connection.

According to officials, the road, built just eight months ago under a defect liability period, was found damaged during a routine inspection by municipal teams. The stall owner had allegedly dug up the road surface without permission and also caused unhygienic conditions by dumping tea waste on the spot.

Assistant Municipal Commissioner Shreykumar Soni said that while the rules limit the maximum penalty that can be imposed, a fine of ₹1 lakh was levied in this case as a deterrent example to prevent similar violations in other areas.

The civic body has been carrying out strict action against those responsible for littering on public roads and using banned plastic, under its solid waste management enforcement drive.

Officials said the action aims to curb illegal activities that damage public infrastructure and maintain cleanliness across city wards.
