AMC demolishes house of absconding accused in Vastral violence case

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Friday demolished the house of absconding accused Pankaj Bhavsar, who is wanted in connection with a recent case of violence in Vastral. The action was carried out in Sumin Park area of Ramol, amid tight police security.
Officials said the civic body had served a notice a month and a half ago instructing the occupants to vacate the property, citing unauthorised construction. With the accused remaining on the run and no compliance from the family, the AMC proceeded with the demolition on Thursday.
“The demolition was conducted peacefully under police protection,” a senior AMC official said, adding that the structure was found to be illegal as per urban development norms.
The move is seen as part of a broader crackdown by civic and police authorities on individuals involved in public disorder and violence. The search for Pankaj Bhavsar is still underway, police officials said.
Meanwhile, the police presence in the area was increased as a precautionary measure to avoid any law and order issues during the operation.
