AMC decorates Rath Yatara’s 1.2 km route at cost of ₹19.59 crore

The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to decorate the first 1.2-km stretch of the Rath Yatra route with islands, tabletops, hanging lights and sculptures. The civic body will spend ₹19.59 crore on the decoration work.
More than a month before the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannathji in Ahmedabad, the AMC is ready to do beautification work on the first 1,200-metre stretch of the route from Jamalpur, Ahmedabad to the Municipality office located in Khamasa.
The road stretch between the route has been transformed with Kota and granite stone pavement, improved footpaths and a large plaza near the temple’s main entrance and Gate No. 2. The plaza area features artistic flooring and lighting arrangements.
The civic body has developed the stretch with a historical theme, including artistic paving, lighting, plantations, green patches, central medians and decorative elements.
Several key junctions along the route, including Jamalpur Darwaza, Jamalpur Chakla, Vaishya Sabha, Shahali Gamdhani Dargah and Khamasa Char Rasta, have been decorated with tabletops, islands, sculptures, place-making elements, central verges and hanging lights.
