AMC conducts waste management drive in Ahmedabad, fines and seals violators

The Solid Waste Management (SWM) Department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) inspected nearly 100 establishments in the Northwest Zone, issuing 145 notices and recovering ₹1.42 lakh in fines. Officials stated that the main goal was to reduce public nuisance and ensure strict compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules.

During the drive, action was taken against commercial establishments and street vendors found littering on public roads or creating public nuisance.

As part of the campaign conducted on January 17 and 18, 2026, 28 kg of banned plastic was seized, and fines amounting to ₹1,42,500 were recovered, as per reports.

Several establishments were sealed for serious violations of the Solid Waste Management Rules. These reportedly included Yamuna Motors and Mit Motors in Bodakdev for littering; Shubh Motors in Bodakdev and Aunty De Parathe on Gurukul Road for using banned plastic; Shubh Gift Shop in Ghatlodia for littering; Mobile Cover House and Shiv Pan Parlour in Gota Gam for using banned plastic; Ramada Traders on Gota Road for littering; and Bungalow No. 15 on Surdhara Road in Thaltej for littering.
