Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has been showcasing pictures of ‘before’ and ‘after’ patchwork repairs on its social media accounts. However, the ground reality tells a different story. Commuters across the city say potholes remain a daily nightmare, damaging vehicles, slowing traffic, and even causing health issues.

At Isanpur crossroads on the Narol route, the road is barely visible beneath the potholes. Riders are forced to crawl through traffic, slowing down at every step to save their vehicles from damage. “My bike’s suspension is already damaged, and every time I hit a pothole I have back pain,” said Sneh (name changed), a daily commuter .

Another daily traveller on the CTM-Narol-Vishala-Shyamal route said that not a single road on this route is smooth. “The AMC keeps posting about patchwork, but when we drive, we only see potholes. Sometimes potholes appear suddenly on a smooth stretch, leaving no time to brake,  it damages vehicles and even causes neck pain,” she said.

Despite the AMC’s online claims of improvement, citizens say the situation on the roads is worsening by the day. With potholes multiplying across key routes, commuters feel the corporation is more focused on showcasing patchwork on Instagram than delivering real results on the ground.
