The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced an incentive scheme offering up to 15% rebate to property owners who pay their 2026–27 property tax in advance. The decision was taken during a recent meeting of the Revenue Committee, aimed at encouraging timely and digital payments.
According to reports, Revenue Committee Chairman Aniruddhasinh Zala said the rebate scheme will be applicable for advance tax payments made between April 9 and May 31.
Taxpayers who pay advance property tax within the specified period will receive a 12% rebate. Those opting for online payment will get a 13 % rebate an additional 1% benefit to promote digital transactions. Citizens who have consistently paid their property tax online for the past three years will receive the maximum 15% rebate. The civic body expects the move to boost early revenue collection while strengthening digital payment adoption across the city.
Meanwhile, AMC’s ongoing interest waiver scheme has witnessed a positive response from taxpayers. Since its launch in January, the scheme has generated total collections of ₹282.81 crore as of February 25. Out of this amount, interest worth approximately ₹22.99 crore has been waived, resulting in a net deposit of ₹259.82 crore into the corporation’s treasury. The interest waiver scheme will remain in force until March 31.
In a separate but significant decision, the Revenue Committee has approved a resolution to grant property tax exemption to institutions working for stray animals and registered with the Charity Commissioner. The move is expected to provide major financial relief to charitable organisations such as panjrapols and gaushalas operating in the city. With these measures, AMC aims to balance revenue growth with public welfare, while encouraging responsible tax compliance among citizens.
