Amazon parcels worth nearly rs 50 lakh allegedly embezzled by delivery agent in Ahmedabad

The Khadia police in Ahmedabad have registered a case against a delivery agent accused of embezzling parcels worth nearly ₹49.19 lakh, including 164 high-value mobile phones, entrusted to him for customer delivery on behalf of Amazon.

According to the FIR lodged on August 28, 2025 by Shashibhushan Trivedi (27), an authorised signatory for Amazon Transportation Services Pvt Ltd, the accused has been identified as Mohammad Shabbar Nasirbhai Mansuri (30), a resident of Astodia in Ahmedabad. Mansuri had been working for the past eight years as a delivery agent at YS Autocare, an authorised Amazon dealership in Khadia, run by Salimbhai Mansuri.

On July 14, 2025, around 9.30 am, Amazon’s delivery driver Sameer Karim Pathan transported 171 parcels from the company’s Naroda godown to YS Autocare. Of these, 129 parcels contained mobile phones, and the remainder carried other valuables. Mansuri, who regularly received consignments for customer delivery through an app, accepted the parcels as routine and left the store on his Access vehicle around 1.30 pm to deliver them.

However, by late afternoon, Mansuri neither returned to the store nor responded to calls on his mobile phone, which was found switched off. A preliminary inquiry revealed that all 171 parcels were missing.

The stolen goods included:

  •  45 Apple iPhones are worth about ₹22.39 lakh
  •  25 Samsung handsets worth ₹15.32 lakh
  •  18 Vivo phones worth ₹1.22 lakh
  •  6 Realme phones worth ₹58,000
  •  3 Redmi phones worth ₹21,000
  •  4 OnePlus devices worth ₹84,000
  •  8 Tecno phones worth ₹47,000
  •  55 iQOO handsets worth ₹7.97 lakh

The total value of the 164 stolen mobile phones was estimated at ₹49 lakh, while 42 additional parcels containing miscellaneous items were valued at ₹19,000.

The complainant submitted IMEI numbers, model details and bills of the stolen mobile phones to assist investigators.

Police have booked Mansuri for cheating and criminal breach of trust under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and have started an investigation.

Officials said statements of key witnesses, including the Amazon driver and the dealership owner, have been recorded. Efforts are under way to trace the absconding accused.
