A group led by Patidar leader Alpesh Kathiriya reportedly had several of their cars damaged in Gondal, Gujarat, following a dispute with locals.

Kathiriya had travelled to the city on Sunday to protest recent comments made by Ganesh Jadeja, a local leader and son of BJP MLA Gitaba Jadeja from Gondal constituency.

The incident led to a case being registered for rioting, with 10 individuals named in the FIR already arrested.

The altercation seems to stem from an ongoing disagreement between Jadeja and Kathiriya over law and order issues in Gondal. Sources say that during a recent public meeting in Sultanpur village, Ganesh Jadeja made statements which were opposed by Kathiriya and his supporters. In response, Kathiriya’s group announced they would visit Gondal to protest.

Upon their arrival, Kathiriya and his supporters were allegedly confronted by Jadeja’s supporters, leading to an attack on several cars belonging to Kathiriya’s group. A police sub-inspector filed a complaint against Ganesh’s supporters, including Indrasinh Jadeja, Pintu Savaliya, Pushpraj Vala, Lakkirajsinh, Nilesh Chavda, and a group of around 20 people, accusing them of rioting and related charges.

Further complicating the situation, another complaint was filed by Pushpraj Vala, a supporter of Ganesh, against the driver of one of Kathiriya’s cars, alleging an attempt of culpable homicide.

The police have confirmed the arrests of two individuals named in the FIR, with investigations into the matter ongoing.
