Air India ordered to pay ₹1 lakh to Rajkot man over poor service

The Rajkot Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed Air India to pay ₹1 lakh as compensation, along with 6% interest, to a passenger who faced severe discomfort during a long-haul international flight.

Complainant Binay Parasana had travelled from Rajkot’s Hirasar International Airport to Toronto on a 14-hour Air India flight, during which he encountered faulty seating, poor recliner function, and a non-working in-flight entertainment system.

After repeated email communication and a legal notice failed to resolve the issue, the passenger filed a complaint in the consumer court.

Commission president P C Rawal ruled that Air India’s deficient service caused mental harassment and ordered compensation.
