Ahmedabad’s three talukas to get 224 recharge well ahead of monsoon

Right before the monsoon, the Ahmedabad District Panchayat’s irrigation department has decided to build a total of 224 recharge wells in Bavla, Sanand, and Daskroi talukas.

Under the Centre’s ‘Catch the Rain 2025’ campaign, the Ahmedabad District Panchayat has prioritised the work of groundwater recharge across the district.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti launched the much-anticipated Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain - 2025.

The objective of this campaign is to maximise the collection of rainwater, recharge it into the ground to revive groundwater levels, increase irrigation capacity, and ensure long-term prosperity for farmers.

The core principle of this campaign is to store rainwater where it falls, which leads to enriching groundwater reserves, improving the soil’s moisture retention capacity, and providing relief to water-scarce areas.

Such water conservation efforts are a blessing for regions facing acute water shortages during summer and those turning into dark zones.

Activities undertaken through public participation are a significant step towards ensuring water security for future generations.
