Ahmedabad’s Shahibaug, Mithakhali underpasses to be closed temporarily due to railway works

Key traffic routes in Ahmedabad will face disruptions over the coming days as railway track maintenance work prompts phased and temporary closures of the Shahibaug and Mithakhali underpasses.
According to officials, the Shahibaug Underpass will remain partially closed in phases from March 19 to March 28, between 12 noon and 5 pm, and again from midnight to 5 am. Meanwhile, the Mithakhali Underpass will be completely shut for traffic from midnight to 5 am between March 19 and March 21.
Authorities have arranged alternative routes to manage traffic flow. Vehicles travelling from Delhi Gate towards Airport and Gandhinagar will be diverted via the Riverfront, while those coming from Girdharnagar and Asarwa towards Shahibaug Annexe will follow revised routes. For the Mithakhali closure, traffic will be rerouted along Ashram Road.
The closures come at a time when traffic pressure on the Shahibaug Underpass has already increased following the shutdown of Subhash Bridge.
Commuters have expressed concern over repeated disruptions, noting that the underpass had been closed multiple times in the past month.
