Ahmedabad’s Revdi Bazaar to be redeveloped after more than 70 years
Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) standing committee has approved a proposal for renovating the land of 460 cabin owners at Kalupur’s Revdi Bazaar.
In the town-planning (TP) scheme, no 5, 255 refugee cabins, and 205 permanent shops on plot numbers 101, 103, 107, and 109 totalled up to 460 cabins.
A new market is to be built at this location. After multiple rounds of discussions with the government, it was agreed upon that the land would be renovated by the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sindhi Cloth Market Co-Op Soc Ltd, over a general interest rate of 10%.
This will provide the AMC with an estimated income of ₹16 cr.
The new market will also widen the TP road by 12.20 metres and 9.15 metres, easing the traffic menace in the walled city area.
This land, owned by the government/corporation 73 years ago, was allocated at a market fee rate in 1950 to the migrated refugees of Pakistan’s Sindhi community after the two countries separated, said the standing committee chairman.
