Ahmedabad’s Nikol residents confront MLAs over civic issues
Tension flared in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area after residents surrounded Daskroi MLA Babu Jamnadas Patel during his visit with four BJP councillors to hear public grievances.
The situation escalated when councillor Baldev Patel allegedly spoke harshly to residents after they raised complaints about poor roads, overflowing drainage, lack of clean drinking water, and waterlogging during rains. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
As per reports, the incident took place near Amar Jawan Circle, where MLA Patel was accompanied by councillors Baldev Patel, Deepak Panchal, Usha Rohit, Vilas Desai, and party office bearers. Locals also accused the councillors of ignoring phone calls. Following the heated exchange, BJP leaders reportedly left after taking photographs without meeting all the residents.
A similar incident had occurred earlier in the Asarwa constituency, where locals confronted BJP MLA Darshanaben Vaghela and councillors from Shahibaug ward during a visit to Jahangirpura School. Residents alleged that no work had been done on roads, water supply, or drainage in the area.
