In a shocking revelation surrounding one of the infamous constructions of Ahmedabad, the Hatkeshwar bridge, the vigilance department of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) performed a major lapse.

The test samples worth over ₹1 cr construction were taken before the addition of cement and concrete to the construction.

As per the RTI (right to information) application filed by Ankur Sagar, the documents related to Hatkeshwar bridge revealed that proper supervision by the then officer, Nainesh Doshi, was lacking.

Furthermore, in the face of a lapse by the vigilance department, responsible for overseeing the operations of the engineering department, authorities failed to take any subsequent action.

Faulty report approved

According to Indian road concrete safety standards, the maximum quality permissible for M-35 grade material is up to M-38. However, in a particular case, the quality exceeded even M-45, rendering it invalid. Despite this violation, the suspicious report was tacitly approved.
