Ahmedabad youth thrashed over theft allegation in Narol, probe launched after video surfaces

A video showing a young man being allegedly beaten with sticks over a theft accusation has surfaced on social media, prompting police to initiate an investigation. The incident is said to have occurred in Piplaj village in the Narol area of the city.

In the purported video, a man can be seen assaulting the youth with a stick while accusing him of theft. The victim is heard pleading to be let go as the assault continues. The footage has since gone viral, drawing attention from authorities.

According to preliminary information, the youth was accused of stealing tyres and other items. Instead of reporting the matter to the police, some individuals allegedly took the law into their own hands and publicly thrashed him.

Police officials said the video is believed to be around a month old, though its authenticity is yet to be officially confirmed. Authorities are working to identify the persons seen in the footage and have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
