A 28-year-old woman working in the IT sector has filed a police complaint at Kalupur police station, alleging repeated physical and mental harassment, assault, and abuse by her husband and in-laws. The FIR names four accused including the woman’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law, all residents of Harij village in Patan district.

The complainant, Manal Sheth, a resident of Relief Road, stated that she had married Jayraj Khetsinh Gadhvi on May 1, 2024, in a court ceremony at Harij. The two had met while working in the same commercial complex in Ahmedabad and grew close over time. At the time, Manal was working as an IT Team Leader with a private firm.

According to her complaint, the couple’s marriage appeared stable for the initial month and a half. However, Manal alleged that she was subsequently subjected to sustained abuse and harassment by her husband and his family, including verbal abuse, beatings, and psychological torment at their home in Harij.

Despite the abuse, she said she continued to live at her in-laws' residence, hoping things would improve. Eventually, she returned to her parental home in Ahmedabad in August 2024.

Matters escalated again on October 29, 2024, when her husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law allegedly came to her father’s home in Ahmedabad. Manal stated they assaulted her, broke her mobile phone, and verbally abused her. She had lodged an earlier complaint with the Kalupur police following this incident. Despite attempts to mediate the matter through community discussions, no resolution was reached, prompting her to file the present legal complaint with her father as a witness.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to assault and criminal intimidation. Further investigation is currently underway.
