Ahmedabad woman duped of ₹14 lakh by ‘black magic baba’ and ‘tantrik guru mata’

A 41-year-old woman from Juhapura has filed a complaint with the Vejalpur police alleging that she was defrauded of ₹14.18 lakh by two individuals posing as a 'black magic baba' and a 'tantrik guru mata', who allegedly threatened her with death and claimed her deceased husband and son had died due to 'tantric powers'.
The complainant, identified as Shabnam Mohammad Hussain (41), a resident of Juhapura, stated that her husband, Akbar Siddiqui, a furniture contractor, and her son, Ruhan Siddiqui, both passed away in 2024. Living alone since their deaths, Shabnam came across a YouTube channel in February 2025 advertising black magic and 'Shifli Tantrik' services, allegedly run by Ram Pratap Bhargava aka Aghori Baba aka Black Magic Baba, and his associate Guru Mata Vijendradevi.
The complaint states that on March 6, 2025, Shabnam contacted Aghori Baba on one of the numbers advertised. The accused allegedly told her that 'evil tantric powers' had been cast on her home and demanded an initial fee of ₹10,000 to remove the curse. Following his instructions, Shabnam transferred ₹3,000 via UPI to a State Bank of India account linked to the name Ram Pratap Bhargava, and subsequently ₹7,000 more through PhonePe on March 30, 2025.
A few days later, the accused allegedly introduced Guru Mata Vijendradevi, who demanded an additional ₹1.7 lakh, warning that Shabnam “would die” if she did not perform the ritual. Afraid, she reportedly sent the money through an angadia courier service to an address in Nashik.
Over the next few weeks, the two accused allegedly continued to extort money under various pretexts, claiming that further rituals were needed to 'cleanse' her of black magic. According to the FIR, Shabnam made multiple payments through couriers, UPI transfers, and direct bank deposits, including ₹9.2 lakh sent from R K Enterprise Angadia, Vastral, Ahmedabad, to Nashik on April 22, 2025.
In total, Shabnam was defrauded of ₹14.18 lakh, police said. The accused reportedly told her that “a human sacrifice” was necessary to complete the ritual and demanded even more money for the same, which raised her suspicion.
Realising she had been duped, Shabnam approached the Vejalpur police and logged a complaint. Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS for cheating, criminal intimidation, and extortion.
The accused have been identified as: Ram Pratap Bhargava alias Aghori Baba alias Black Magic Baba and Guru Mata Vijendradevi
The FIR mentions that the accused advertised their services through YouTube under the handle @babaj18475 and collected money via bank accounts, Google Pay, PhonePe, and courier services.
A senior police official confirmed that digital evidence and courier records are being scrutinised to trace the accused.
“The complainant was psychologically manipulated and repeatedly threatened under the guise of black magic rituals,” said the official. “We have verified all digital and financial trails linked to the two suspects, and two teams have been assigned to trace down the accused.”
