Ahmedabad woman dies by suicide, alleges torture by husband

An Ahmedabad woman died by suicide over the alleged mental and physical torture by her husband. As per a complaint at Ghatlodia police station, the woman identified as Pallavi, who lived in Sankalp Row House, Ghatlodia, allegedly died of a overdose of sleeping pills.
The Ghatlodia police has filed a complaint against the husband Gajraj Sharma, accusing him of abetting the suicide.
As per the complaint filed by victim’s father Suresh, Pallavi had married Gajraj after her first marriage ended in divorce in 2021.
Pallavi and Sharma met through a matrimonial website and married on March 27, this year. However, within a month, Pallavi informed her father that Sharma was subjecting her to physical and mental abuse, frequently disappearing for days without notice.
Later, when Pallavi discovered she was pregnant, Sharma allegedly pressured her to terminate the pregnancy, leading to a miscarriage. Also, to support herself financially, Pallavi started working, but Sharma allegedly took her salary and would not provide money for household expenditure.
On November 8, Pallavi sent a WhatsApp message to her father, informing him about the overdose of sleeping and a suicide note under her pillow. Fearing for her life, Mishra contacted the Ghatlodia police.
Upon reaching the residence, the police found Pallavi dead.
The police have registered a case and are looking for the accused.
