Ahmedabad woman accuses US-based husband of domestic violence

A woman in Ahmedabad has filed a complaint at the Mahila Police Station in Mithakali against her US-based husband for constantly harassing her over five years.

The 33-year-old woman, a resident of the Law Garden area, Ahmedabad, met Dharmik, a resident of Texas, USA, through a matrimonial site. 

The two got married in 2020, and as per the demands of her in-laws living in Satellite, gifts were given at the time of marriage. 

During the wedding, the groom concealed his baldness with artificial hair strands. He would often lose his temper and envy his wife’s personality. The expenses for their honeymoon trip to the Maldives were borne by the bride’s parents, but the husband never reimbursed them.

While working in an IT company, the husband and wife stayed in Texas and later in California. 

When the wife slept, the husband would step out to talk to his parents over the phone. As per the complaint, the husband did not give her financial independence in California and showed no interest in physical intimacy. When she tried to raise the issue, he threatened to send her back to India. 

After purchasing a house in Texas, when his parents came to live with them, the wife had to work to manage finances, but she was still mistreated.

The husband assaulted her when she asked him to seek treatment over physical issues. 

Even after she became pregnant following medical treatment, the husband continued to beat her. Later, the couple began living in separate rooms, and she gave birth to a son. The mistreatment continued even after the child’s birth.
