Update: Ahmedabad gets the party whip three days after AMC, VMC get new mayors
Pratibha Jain appointed as the mayor of Ahmedabad, Vadodara gets a woman mayor, too

After three days of appointing the new mayor, deputy mayor, and other office-bearers for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the new whip was announced. Shital Daga, a corporator from Maninagar, was made the party whip.
Interestingly, the event invite for the Behrampura drainage inauguration on Sept 13 had the name of the previous whip, Arunsinh Rajput, however, Daga's name was announced just three hours before the event.
Since the two-and-a-half-year term of the mayor and other officials at the municipal corporations have ended, both Ahmedabad and Vadodara have got newly appointed mayors, deputy mayors, standing committee chairmen, and leaders of the ruling party.
Pratibha Jain, Ahmedabad’s new mayor
Pratibha Jain, who currently heads the state’s ministry of women and child development, was appointed as mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Pratibha Jain is a corporator from Ahmedabad’s Shahibaug area and has completed her education with a BA in political science.
Pratibha Jain will be the fifth woman mayor of Ahmedabad. Before this, Bijal Patel (2018-2020), Meenakshi Patel (2013-2015), Aneesa Begum Mirza (2003-2005), Malini Bharatgiri (1999-2002), and Bhavna Dave (1995-1996) have been the women mayors of Ahmedabad.
Jatin Patel was elected as her deputy and will serve as the deputy mayor for the next two and a half years.
Devang Dani was appointed as the standing committee chairman, and Gaurang Prajapati will be the leader of the ruling party.
Vadodara, too, gets a woman mayor
Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) also got a woman mayor, with the appointment of Pinki Soni in the office as the mayor.
Chirag Barot was appointed as the deputy mayor of Vadodara, and Sheetal Mistry was appointed as the chairman of the standing committee. Manoj Patel will be the leader of the ruling party in Vadodara.
With Ahmedabad and Vadodara getting new office heads in their respective municipal corporations, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Jamnagar corporations are likely to appoint the new names soon.
