Ahmedabad Vadodara Expressway resurfacing to cause delays for 3 months
People travelling on the Ahmedabad Vadodara Expressway will have to face delays for the next few months. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started repair work on a 39-km stretch of the road between Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
After monsoon, many riders have a complained about potholes and a rough road surface. A survey by NHAI also found that the road condition was poor and not as per standards. Because of this, resurfacing work has been initiated on the patches where required.
Due to the repair work till April, traffic will likely move slowly. Around 25,000 vehicles use this road every day. Officials say it may now take about 2 hours to reach Ahmedabad from Vadodara. Drivers are advised to start their journey at least 30 minutes earlier.
The work is being done using heavy machines and around 40–50 workers. Since vehicles will keep moving during the repairs, the work will be done one lane at a time.
NHAI has asked regular travellers to plan their trips in advance. Delays are expected till the work is completed, but the repairs will help make the road safer and smoother in the future.
