Ahmedabad traders observe ‘bandh’ to demand justice for Seventh Day Adventist School victim

As the Crime Branch on Friday booked Seventh Day Adventist School’s principal and management, the traders’ associations have now joined in support of the victim and his family and declared ‘bandh’ on Saturday.
After a massive rally and protests organised by the Sindhi community with the consent of shopkeepers from areas such as Kalupur, Raipur, Saraspur, Sarangpur, and Relief Road, the Ahmedabad Traders Federation announced a bandh on Saturday. Moreover, some other business associations and business parks will also remain shut.
The murder of a Class 10 student outside the Seventh Day Adventist School in Khokhra has led to massive outrage among citizens in the eastern part of the city.
According to the investigators, a Class 8 student stabbed a Class 10 student outside the school. After that, the victim managed to walk back into the school through a side gate, holding his wound, and remained on the premises with his injuries.
When the security guard saw him, he questioned him and alerted the management, but despite this, no first aid or immediate medical assistance was arranged for nearly 37 minutes.
“It was only when his mother arrived to pick him up that she discovered his condition. She took him to Sardar Patel Hospital in an autorickshaw, from where he was shifted to LG Hospital. He succumbed during treatment,” a senior Crime Branch officer said.
The juvenile accused arrested by Khokhra Police was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Khanpur on Friday (August 22).
The accused was sent to a 14-day counselling programme in a child protection home.
Before his appearance, heavy police security was deployed around the Board premises.
