The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to modernise its Fire and Emergency Services Department with an AI-enabled digital management system that will allow citizens to report fire incidents by sending photographs directly to the authorities.

The civic body is developing a smart fire and emergency management system that will integrate artificial intelligence (AI), Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and GPS-enabled vehicle tracking to improve response times and emergency coordination.

Officials said the new system is expected to become operational by August.

As part of the initiative, GPS devices will be installed in fire brigade vehicles, enabling real-time tracking and continuous monitoring of vehicle movement and speed.

The system will also use GIS-based mapping technology to identify the exact location of incidents and facilitate live monitoring of emergency situations, allowing fire personnel to assess conditions before reaching the site.

Currently, fire incidents are primarily reported through telephone calls. Under the proposed system, citizens will also be able to send photographs of an incident, enabling the fire department to better evaluate the severity of the situation and deploy resources accordingly.

Officials said the move is aimed at improving the efficiency of emergency response services and addressing complaints regarding delays in the arrival of fire brigade vehicles during emergencies.

According to AMC sources, the tendering process for the project has been completed and an agency has been appointed to implement the system.

The civic body is in the final stages of execution and plans to launch the platform in the coming months.

In the future, the system is also expected to be integrated with drone technology and linked with other emergency services, including the police, ambulance network and the 112 emergency response system, officials said.
