In a move aimed at strengthening the city’s water supply, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) Water Committee has approved a project to construct 12 new borewells across four city zones – Central, West, North-West, and South-West – at an estimated cost of ₹3.80 crore.
According to Water Committee Chairman Dilip Bagaria, new borewells will be installed at Water Distribution Station compounds where borewells currently do not exist. The project will also cover isolated locations where water from the main distribution stations does not adequately reach, and at places where existing borewells have failed.
The proposal was put forth by the AMC Water Operations Department and received approval in the recent committee meeting. The cost for constructing each borewell, including GST, is estimated at ₹28.57 lakh.
