A Singapore-inspired urban garden modelled on ‘Gardens by the Bay’ is set to be developed along the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad at an estimated cost of ₹46 crore, officials said.

The proposed project will come up within the Usmanpura garden area and is aimed at enhancing the appeal of the riverfront as a major recreational and tourist destination.

Officials said the planned garden would combine natural elements with modern technology, drawing inspiration from Singapore’s iconic attraction, known for its futuristic design and landscaped environments.

Asif Memon, Director of Parks and Gardens, said the project is expected to be completed within two years. “The garden will feature around 110 varieties of trees, and the overall structure will incorporate glass elements. It will include a skywalk, fountains, artificial cloud effects and specialised lighting,” he said.

Among the key features planned for the project are illuminated artificial trees, a climate-controlled glass dome with a waterfall and hill-like installations, and a curated display of plants and flowers from across the world.

A skyway-style bridge is also proposed as part of the design, along with a nightly light and sound show aimed at attracting visitors.
