Ahmedabad to build 11 new sports complexes, 27 playgrounds ahead of Commonwealth Games 2030

With Ahmedabad officially declared as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has undertaken an expansive sports infrastructure upgrade across the city.
A total of 11 modern sports complexes and 27 playgrounds will be developed across wards, with an estimated expenditure of ₹3,000 crore.
Naranpura’s Veer Savarkar Sports Complex is already operational, while a new ₹40 crore facility is coming up in East Ahmedabad. Upcoming complexes in Thaltej, Gota, Jodhpur and Chandkheda will feature tennis courts, swimming pools and gymnasiums built to international standards.
At present, AMC operates 47 gymnasiums, six skating rinks, five sports centres, seven tennis courts and five recreation centres across the city. The corporation has recently added new gymnasiums in Jodhpur, Naranpura, Rakhial, Vejalpur, Vatva-Lambha, Vatva, Sabarmati and Ranip.
Skating rinks exist in Vasna, Paldi, Isanpur, Raipur, Ranip and Nikol, while tennis courts have been developed in Chandkheda, Chandlodia, Lambha, Paldi, Nikol, Ramol and Memnagar.
