Ahmedabad students and faculty to welcome New Year 2026 in unique way with blind community

A group of students, along with faculty members are planning to celebrate New Year 2026 in a meaningful way by spending time with blind people and gifting them jewellery at Andhjan Mandal, Navrangpura. The initiative is being organised under Prayas Charity with Smile from GLS-FOC, a charity group that has been active since 1999.
For the past 12–13 years, the group has been welcoming the New Year with a unique social concept each time. Instead of traditional celebrations, they focus on serving different sections of society. Last year, the group distributed school kits to students of a municipal school.
Members of Prayas Charity said that their main goal is humanity. “Our aim is not just to give gifts, but to spend quality time with these people and make them feel loved and respected,” they said.
For the New Year 2026 programme, around ₹12,000 to ₹13,000 has been collected through donations from nearly 50 to 60 students. The collected amount will be used entirely for this initiative.
The event also reflects the broader spirit of social service at the institution, with students from every stream contributing to various causes. This collective effort aims to start the New Year with compassion, care, and social responsibility.
