Ahmedabad sees sudden dust and hail storm on Monday

Monday evening in Ahmedabad experienced a sudden turn in the atmosphere as the city saw winds in gust, coupled with dust and hailstorm.

The gusty winds mixed with dust brought the routine to a short-lived halt off the SG Highway, Makarba, Prahladnagar, and nearby areas. 

The Ahmedabad Fire Department has so far responded to five to seven reports of trees being uprooted across the city in one hour.

"Moderate thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 50- 60 kmph (in gust) accompanied with moderate rain in Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadara & Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Diu on Tuesday" said Indian Meteorological Department on Monday.

Parts of Ahmedabad in Hathijan-Vivekanandnagar also received hailstorms this evening, much to the locals' delight. 

Forecast of light to moderate rainfall over next five days in:

Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Kutch.

Light to moderate rain is expected in the following districts from May 6 to 9:

Patan, Mehsana, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Botad, Diu.
