Ahmedabad sees 35 per cent spike in viral fever cases at Civil Hospital in a month

Ahmedabad is witnessing a surge in viral infections and mosquito-borne diseases. In the past 19 days, Asarwa Civil Hospital recorded 106 dengue cases and 42 malaria cases.

As compared to the previous month, cases of viral fever have increased by 35%. In August, there were 245 viral fever cases, while in just 19 days of September, 324 cases have already been reported. Last month, dengue cases stood at 180, while so far this month, 106 patients have been recorded. Regarding malaria cases, 29 were of mild malaria and 13 were severe malaria.

Within a single week, 25,074 patients visited the OPD, while 2,411 were admitted. Private hospitals and clinics have also reported a 20% increase in patients with viral fever, cold, and cough.

Notably, malaria cases in Gujarat stood at 4,921 in 2021, 4,785 in 2022, 4,311 in 2023, and 4,395 in 2024. On the other hand, dengue cases were 10,983 in 2021, 6,682 in 2022, 7,222 in 2023, and 7,891 in 2024.
