A school in Ahmedabad received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday morning. The subject line of the email stated that a bomb had been planted in the school to move police into action,  demanding justice for a rape victim in Hyderabad.

Upon receiving the email, the Geneva Liberal School, located in Shela,  informed the police. The police, bomb squad, and fire department promptly arrived at the scene.

The email claimed that the sender intended to draw attention to a person who allegedly raped a girl at a Lemon Tree Hotel in Hyderabad in 2023. It also included the contact details of the alleged rapist and his parents.

The disturbing email was received at 10.58 am, allegedly sent by an individual identifying themselves as “Divij Prabhakara”, with the subject line: “Bomb planted in the school to provide justice for a rape victim.” In a chilling message, the sender criticised police inaction, stating: “The police is sleeping and they cannot do anything... Only if children die, police will become active. We are going to blast the bomb in your school to bring to police attention about rape.”

Furthermore, the email alleged that the rapist’s parents had been torturing their daughter-in-law, adding that the daughter-in-law was harassed for a dowry of ₹1 crore, citing the family’s ongoing home and car loans.

Rohit Chaudhary, Ahmedabad City DEO, confirmed the development, saying, “After receiving threats, the school informed the police and our office. Police personnel are currently present at the school and have been instructed to prevent entry of any unauthorised individuals.”

The message concluded with a warning, saying “Save them if you can.”
