Ahmedabad school principal, clerk arrested for taking bribe to appoint TAT qualified teacher

Ahmedabad’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested the principal and clerk of Sheth Shri L V & K V Bhavsar Vidya Mandir School in Detroj for demanding a bribe.
As per the complainant, she had passed the Teacher’s Aptitude Test (TAT) conducted by the government for teacher recruitment, and on July 29, 2025, she was appointed to Sheth Shri L V & K V Bhavsar Vidyamandir School at Detroj, Ahmedabad district.
When she reported to the school, the principal, Kamleshbhai Maneklal Patel, resident of Madhuban Bungalows, near S V School, Kadi, told her that he had arranged to change her appointment seat to the Economically Weaker Section category and registered it under the National Education Policy and demanded ₹35,000 for it.
Following this complaint, the ACB set up a trap and caught Patel red-handed accepting the money and instructed that it be handed over to the school’s junior clerk, Vimalbhai Bhailalbhai Patel, a resident of Khodiyarnagar, Detroj. The clerk received and accepted ₹35,000, thereby assisting in the bribe transaction. The ACB has arrested the principal and clerk.
